Title |
Synthesis of domestic and wild ungulate telemetry data |
Description | This research looks at climate-mediated competition between wild and domestic ungulates using spatial data, specifically leveraging elk and cattle telemetry data from 1989-2023 from Starkey Experimental Forest and Range. There are an estimated 8+ million cattle locations and 10+ million elk locations. Research questions to be addressed by this work include: (1) Does spatial overlap between elk and cattle increase in times of drought (broad scale)? (2) Can elk make behavioral decisions to reduce spatial overlap with cattle (fine scale)? |
